Youth Advisory Group

What is a Youth Advisory Group (YAG)?

A Youth Advisory Group (YAG) is a group of young people who provide input or undertake tasks for organisations, services, or projects related to youth.

What do they do?

Youth Advisory Groups are about giving you an opportunity to participate meaningfully in things that affect you and helping organisations and services to get it right when working with youth.

Why Netball Manawatu would like to create YAG?

Our vision at Netball Manawatu is "Everyone's game", and we know the importance of acknowledging everyone that contributes to our game in the Manawatu.

We are always looking at ways to improve community engagement and a way to achieving this is creating a YAG to help us insight some of the demands, needs and aspirations youth would like to achieve in Netball.

Having a platform for youth to share, voice and contribute their value to the game of Netball will only make our netball community richer in the Manawatu.

What do I need to know?

  • Free to join
  • Commit to attend meetings that will run 1-2 hours a month
  • Looks awesome on your CV
  • An opportunity to influence what happens in your community
  • Develops leadership and project management skills
  • An opportunity to meet new people

You don’t need any special experience or skills to join a YAG, just an interest in having your say and supporting your community. The YAG is facilitated by Netball Manawatu who will support the group to develop the right skills to complete projects.
